spring is really here

So, Sara had a day off school yesterday that just happened to coincide with nice weather! Mom stayed home because I had some recruitment activities to handle... but both of them came to visit me at school. Sara hadn't been there since she was about a month old, so that was pretty cool. It hit 80 degrees and I knocked off early and came home so that we could all go to the park (see picture above). Sara had a good day all around.

Today one of Danette's friends from high school was in town because his wife grew up here. They have a son just about the same age as Sara, so they had BIG fun making each other laugh, etc. Another nice day around here again. Pretty lucky this week.

Until next time...

wet weekend

The week started off great here and then got colder and more wet. Sara is having a somewhat rougher time now it seems... maybe it just that we are approaching the 'twos', but she is also noticeably more tired as well. In fact, in the morning, even if she is awake when we go into her room, she will invariably say 'turn the light off, I sleeping!' Amusing for us at least. All the extra fresh air and exercise may be tiring her out too, as may a growth spurt. Regardless, the whining, even about stuff that she is excited about is getting a little old, but ah well, that's life with a toddler, we'll see what next week brings.

It has been a little wet this weekend for a trip to the park... they actually called for snow/rain mix today (thankfully no snow yet!). Yesterday we took our first trip to the outdoor Farmer's Market, but it was quick and damp. Today, while Mom was meeting some of her friends for coffee, Sara and I went to the Children's Museum. There they have a really big water table - Sara's favorite. Below is a picture of her having fun, and having the table to herself as we got there early enough that she didn't have to elbow her way in this time!

a walk in the park

basically t-shirt weather here today after Sara's nap... so we went to the park again... it was quite busy today, compared with empty last week. Sara had a lot of fun again, and chose to wear her new hat and sunglasses. After that she accompanied her parents to that most import rite of spring, the first trip to the home/garden store. Another dinner on the bbq, and a walk around the block. Oh, and during the nap Dad installed a FireWire card and can now download video... maybe some video clips at some point in the future.

Time to dig in the sand.

Top of a big slide...

Weeeee... swing time

after dinner walk in one of my other hats...

In case you were wondering, Dad finally got most of the camera stuff installed on the computer at home and transfered over... so on weekends he can catch up. He really likes the built-in card-reader and now the firewire card.... it also gives him something to do since UNC lost so badly last night in the Final Four....

"I HELP!"

Yes, Sara likes to help... yesterday we picked up a rake for her so that she could starting "helping" with chores around the yard. In the picture below, she is emphatically stating "I help!" with regard to raking some errant leaves in the backyard yesterday. She also helped us pick up a bunch of twigs and sticks around the backyard that had fallen with all the windstorms (and squirrel nesting) going on this past winter. Sara had a pretty good week, especially as she is getting to spend more time outside at school... she is also coming home dirtier and more tired, all of which is pretty good - fresh air and exercise. She also amazed her father by spontaneously walking up the stairs backwards. We've also moved from amazing her parents with how fast she learns words, to just using words and sentences on her own, not parroting them all. And last night she decided to start detailing to her father a story of everything she did the last time she had a babysitter here... which was in January. Kids are sponges indeed.

I HELP!

We're off for a stroller ride around the neighborhood... check out the new had - reversible even.

A cute pic from a few weeks ago, enjoying Easter all around.
