First trip to the park of 2008

thermometer says 53 degrees... maybe a little windy for that, but we had a fun trip to the park today... did a few slides, tried the swings. Swings are not that comfortable all bundled up... teeter-totter and of course digging in the sand. Spring, ready or now, here we come!

yuck

"Yuuucky," said Sara as her parents showed her some dresses in Target... I guess she wasn't in a dressy mood today. Both Danette and I thought it was very funny since she has not reacted like that to clothes before... we often get NO! to our suggestions in the morning, but not yucky.... ah well.

Sara has had a busy day today... the last of her swimming lessons was today and we took a walk around the block... an actual walk, no stroller with us... plus various domestic retail trips for the day.

Other than that Sara is generally well, though a little more cranky the last week or so, even at school... it may just be that those "2's" are coming. But she has also been getting those last teeth in we think, and that tends to go slow for her.

The snow is almost all melted here... not sure if it will be for good or not, but hopefully the last of the major storms are over. The crocuses are starting to poke up in our front yard, which is an achievement since usually the bunnies chow them before we even get to see them! Needed yard work is becoming quite apparent as well, heck I even thought about fertilizing...

first quarter of 2008

Sara had been doing great here in 2008, (knock-on-wood) no real bad illnesses this year, though the tubes are still in her ears from over a year ago, which seems to be working well.

Lately Sara has started taking swimming "lessons" on Saturday mornings. She likes it a lot, but since it is the same pool the swim team uses, it is pretty cold and 20-30 minutes is enough for her. But she has big fun and talks about swimming all week long.

Sara is getting bigger, but the biggest change is really in her talking, she communicates very well we think.. and she is picking up new words all the time. Of course, her favorite words still usually have something to do with food, like "pasta", "rice", or "fruit."

The last 6 weeks have also been pretty busy around here with mom gone one and dad 3 times on "airplanes" but she has done very well, but is very happy when mom and dad are both home. We have also had a bunch of big snow dumps in that time period, so Sara has spent a lot of time watching Dad snowblowing through the front window. We have also been pleasantly surprised with growing interest and learning about potty-use... we'll see if it sticks, but other kids are learning at school, and she is not one that likes to be left out, so maybe it will.

Grandma D. came for a visit this week/weekend and that has been big fun, another person for her to read books with, and color, and paint and generally have fun with.

Other than that, all is well.

Some February Pics

Sara showing off her cool hat with ears.

Sara love's to go to the Children's Museum where she gets to play in their huge water table.

... and at the start of this year they had an exhibit on the Galapagos, which meant tons and tons of sand

Some January Pics

On MLK day at the Botanical Garden with Dad again, just like last year.

Turns out that the garden also has a Thomas the Train set, a favorite of Sara's.

About to have some fun with Dad outside in the snow... imagine that, snow in Cleveland.

See Dad, I can help with the snowblowing!

January was big fun for all. Sara worked on talking more... and a funny part for us was that while Dad was giving a talk at NASA Glenn... Sara was running her mom around the place having fun saying "More NASA, more NASA!"
