5000

5000 as in hits on this blog... given the modest readership... quite a milestone. Thanks to everyone that keeps checking in for pictures and stories of our real-life adventures.

In other news:; it reached 80 or nearly so yesterday, quite crazy for this time of year... if we aren't careful, the grass will start growing... just as my lawnmower is in the shop. Also, Sara had a post-op appointment after getting her tubes in a month ago, and they look perfect apparently.

hints of a spring in her step...

So Sara is almost 10 months old and we are entering her first springtime. Today is pretty nice, and yesterday was warm but foggy and rainy. An of course, things are changing with Sara a bit too. She seems to be growing a bit, her first tooth is starting to really show (those first teeth are sharp, and of course all the crawling and pulling up, etc. Her nap schedule is all over the place lately, but that isn't much of a surprise given all the changes, including moving to a new bigger kid room at day care. She started that last Monday and did pretty well. Sara still looks around for her previous care-givers... in fact I guess she made a break for it and went looking for Sr. Ann herself one day. But, now she gets to play a lot more, and she even goes to the gym now... so I suspect the WNBA scouts will be coming around any time now...

Otherwise, she is doing basically fine... the tantrum phase has started a bit, though. The are particularly more prevalent when it is time to change a diaper... A little ironic that up until about 4-5 months ago she tended to be unhappy if we didn't change her diaper fast enough.. ah well.

A short video of Sara pulling up, chattering, etc is below...

With the nicer weather (some days that is) we have been able to get out and take some walks with Sara. She took a few with her Grandmothers while they were here for their visits... and I have been able to get out with her since I got back... the first pic is just from a walk around the block after work/school this week. I know that some people are complaining about this shift in Daylight Savings Time, but for me, with it being light after work, it is so nice to be able to take advantage of it with Sara.

Anyway, today we pulled out a frame carrier that Jim and Beverly loaned us to see how Sara would like it. We got it all adjusted at home... and as you can see she certainly liked the view. Then we decided to go take a walk around the Shaker Lakes... it was a great day for it and just the right length for all of us for a first outing of the spring.

As you can see, Sara had a great time, and the fresh air did its usual trick on her too.

man, what a week!

So, since the last post Sara has had not one, but two grandmas visit, had her father travel for multiple days in a row for the first time, started "pulling up" to a standing position on furniture, had her first tooth break through, oh and she moved up to the next room at day care. Wow, talk about a busy week or so.

Grandma H. came to visit first and spent a few days here and spent some time with Sara... in fact she was here for my birthday, which might be a first since I left for college, which was kind of fun.

Then, I left for my meeting in Houston Sunday afternoon... Grandma D. showed up on Tuesday afternoon and got to spend some time chilling out, hanging out with Sara, and helping out around here... then I came home Friday night. And I guess that while I was gone, the weather here went from cold to 70 to cold and snow, with an earthquake and a tornado somewhere in between all that.

Sara is doing well, eating well, crawling and playing.... I think we might be entering a tantrum phase, but with all the teething and other things going on her nap schedule has been a little irregular... other than that, all is well.

Crawling!

Here it is... Sara crawling! She started a few, sort of mini crawling steps about a week ago, over the weekend she started putting it together a little, and then in the last day she put it all together and has crawled from one side of the living room to the other. Here is some video (sorry, it is a little dark in our living room)

In other news since the last post... Sara is trying to stand up on her own, without pulling up, but that too (no success yet). She is a solid eater, and loves to feed herself and is getting better at it... she is even taking the spoon and trying to guide it to her mouth when we give her soy yogurt or baby-food peaches.

Sara also had her 9 month check-up today... still tracking in the 95th percentile... 22 lbs 14 oz and 29.5 inches long... that's 8.25 inches in 9 months...

This past weekend we had some visitors here, Rew and D'Arcy came for a visit and to see Sara.... we basically just hung out, though we were having some pictures of Sara re-taken due to some technical difficulties with some pics taken at 6 months... So Sara had several people to make faces at her and for her to laugh at during the pictures. Sara was far more smiley this time, so we are really looking forward to seeing the pictures. Sara also had fun crawling and bouncing all over her new friends (okay, and kicking Rew under the table...)

This week, Grandma H. comes for a couple of day visit while she is over on this side of the Great Lakes seeing my Grandma.... Sara has the day off on Friday from daycare, so the timing works great and they will have some good quality time to hang out. (speaking of day care, in a couple of weeks Sara moves up to the next room at daycare and starts hanging out full-time with the bigger kids).

Next week is my usual week in Houston for a conference... so that will be the longest that either of us have been away from Sara... but Sara and Mom will have some good fun, and then a little later in the week, Grandma D. has some time off, so she is going to come visit while I am gone.... needless to say, Sara is going to have big-fun in March.
