2006 in review

Happy New Year! 2006 was a big year around here, most of it related to our new bundle of joy, Sara (if you are a newbie to this blog, just scroll down and see what I mean). There have been well over 100 different posts this year and over 4000 hits on this site (most of them in May and June). Though it is a cliche type of post, I thought that I would work through a list of ten interesting posts (or groups of posts)... well, interesting to me at least. Just clicking through the month-by-month archive on the right.

So, in near chronological order...

  • Here's our first picture of our baby-to-be-named-later (now named Sara) at the time of Danette's ultrasound in January. This was a pretty exciting time, and as a surprise to me, Danette decided at the last minute that she wanted to wait to learn whether our baby was a boy or girl until she was born.
Then there are several months of pictures of Danette and her growing belly and of our preparations around the house.

  • Then it was time for the big day to come... and the due date came and went (pic). We made it through Memorial Day weekend (lost our A/C!) and on Tuesday morning, May 30 - we saw the d doctor and went home and off to hospital at about 9 pm that night so that Danette could be induced.
  • Then on Wednesday May 31st at 2:59pm Sara was born at 8lbs 7oz and 21.25 inches long.
  • Over the summer we had a lot of time to get know Sara, have fun, sleep a little here and there and change a lot (a lot!) of diapers. One of my favorite things (and Sara's too) was to take her outside to look at the trees and flowers, and clouds and the sky where Danette took one of my favorite pictures of me and Sara.
  • One of the big things in the summer was a big trip up to see our families and for Sara to be baptised by her Grandma H.
  • Clearly that trip (actually the longest Danette and I have taken together, ever) was a big deal and there are lots pictures and more pictures.
  • In other baby-related news, Sara rolled over for the first time and we reached the stage of a mobile child. She is much more adept at this now and even sits up and is trying her darnedest to get up and crawl, but no luck on the latter yet (look for that in a 2007 in review maybe :P)
  • And then there is our first holiday season with our little girl. She got a special X-mas dress seen here and here. And then had the joy of having both sets of grandparents come to visit during x-mas in new years. There are lots of pictures of x-mas events like Christmas eve here and more here.... and the all important x-mas morning.
It has been a fabulous year, lots of changes, several new adventures, and a new participant (Sara) in most important adventure of all... life. So here I will end this relatively self(family) centered retrospective and wish everyone a happy and joyous 2007 and we look forward to hearing from all of you (yes, you know who you are) one way or another... heck you could even leave a comment here and there :P

Have a Happy and Fabulous New Year!

- Steve, Danette and Sara
